This historic village, located approximately 4 miles on the North West side of Clacton-on-Sea, takes its name from the daughter of the first Christian King of East Anglia, Princess St Osytha. It was Princess St Osytha who founded a Nunnery in the village, the site on which now stands the ancient St Osyth Priory with its 15th Century Gate House. The village centre has a wealth of historic buildings and cottages, a selection of traditional and day to day village shops and olde worlde pubs and restaurants. The village outskirts provides a wide selection of modern housing ranging from starter homes to family homes, a primary school, village hall, recreation ground with children’s play area and lake with water sports facilities.
